In the video GYFF Workshop (2022-2023) Documentary Story Ideas with Dave Thomas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian comedians who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was shown on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was aired on CBC Television in the eighties. Bob is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as a sketch to both satisfy and mock dumb Canadian content legislation, the two transformed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The two went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
