Bob is created by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is acted by comic Dave Thomas. Although developed originally as a joke to both satisfy and mock annoying Canadian content legislation, the pair transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The characters went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
