Bob and Doug McKenzie in Half Wits — from The Martin Short Show (1994)
In the video Half Wits — from The Martin Short Show (1994), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a segment which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sent to CBC Television in 1980. Bob McKenzie is created by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously made originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about network Canadian content statutes, the two transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
This parody of Jeopardy was first popularized on SCTV, with several episodes. In 1994, Martin Short had a very short-lived TV show, and this segment was on the second episode. One of my favorite comedy bits of all time! Search YouTube for “SCTV Half Wits” for the original segments — all are great.

The 1994 version of Alex Trebek impersonated by Eugene Levy. No 1970's or 1980's afro of course.
Laughing the whole last two minutes!
Lawrence Orbach’s introduction is word for word at some points compared to the SCTV skit. Looks like Jan Hooks. She was so versatile. And Steve Martin plays a great nitwit.
