Bob and Doug McKenzie in Happy Birthday Rex Banner!

In the video Happy Birthday Rex Banner!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hysterical Canadian siblings who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is performed by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is performed by comic Dave Thomas. Which was made originally as an idea to both fulfill and laugh about legal Canadian content statutes, the characters grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
