In the video I Can’t Help It, I Just Like Christmas, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of odd Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is played by Dave Thomas. The sketch was made originally as a skit to both please and mock silly Canadian content demands, the two became a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The characters later became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
