I love Rush, Geddy, such humble and intelligent men, and few in music are a s grounded, kind, honouring of the craft – they are true gifts for all music – there should be more interviews like this and others, for new musicians – the lost of integrity – and soul of music seems to be what is missing now – these guys are pure soul – passionate and unique – Thank you
Love you, Geddyboy! ♥️♥️♥️
He talks about The Who but doesn't mention John Entwistle? What gives?
Out of all the bands that Geddy listed, no question, his biggest influence on his playing was Yes's Chris Squire! On Rush's sound it was Yes and Led Zeppelin, especially on Geddy's early vocal work. You can also hear Genesis and Floyd on their sound and writing.
Fun to hear. That early genesis is amazing. I love the combination of progressive and hard rock that was a constant in rush.
How did he fail to mention Felix Pappalardi from Mountain?? Who was not just a good player, but had a sound that no other bassist to this day, has ever replicated. What made Mountain so good was, how he & Leslie West shared lead portions in their songs. Of all their albums, their Flowers Of Evil one, best demonstrated their excellent chemistry.
I’m not sure that Geddy realizes how much of an influence he’s had on decades of musicians!Bravo!
5:20 Chris Squire reference
