more info

Iconic Canadian performer Rick Moranis (SCTV, Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, Parenthood, Strange Brew, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Little Shop Of Horrors) retired from acting in the mid-1990’s to care for his children after the death of his wife.

In June of 2013 he released an album of music and only did a few interviews to promote it. I was fortunate to have the chance to speak with him and we discussed his music career; whether he actually did retire; what it was like working with Dave Thomas on SCTV and as Bob and Doug McKenzie; and much, much more.

At the end of our chat, he was even kind enough to record a promo for me, one which I’ll keep forever. That was done off the air, but I’ve included it at the end of this clip.

It’s a beauty interview, eh?!

  1. One of my favorite all time actors. Such a genuine person. Big heart. We definitely need more like him in the industry, but definitely understand his family first approach.

  2. So enchanting to hear Rick's thoughts. He still shines so bright. Thanks Daniel! Loved 'My Mother's Brisket', and all of his musical talents- especially in 'Little Shop of Horrors' . Would be interesting if Rick came back with his own Radio show/podcast…love that guy.

  3. Rick and Dave stopped by the Steve & Garry radio show in Chicago at least a couple times during the Strange Brew promotion and the recordings are a must have. Excellent stuff.
