In the video John Candy as Johnny LaRue (SCTV) REACTION, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of fictional Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a show which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it braodcast by CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was created originally as a skit to both please and laugh at stupid Canadian content guidelines, the characters became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and America. The two became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
