In the video Kanner’s Christmas Carol 7.05 break, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of made up Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was included on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it got sent to CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s part is created by Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is played by Dave Thomas. The sketch was made originally as a skit to both fulfill and mock stupid Canadian content demands, the two morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
