In the video Keynote: Dave Thomas with Brian Mitchell, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of imaginaryfunny Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a sketch which was broadcast on SCTV for the show’s third season when it moved to CBC Television in in the early 80s. The character Bob McKenzie is acted by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as filler to both please and mock annoying Canadian content demands, the characters became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The two later became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
