Bob’s part is played by Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is played by comic Dave Thomas. It was born originally as a sketch to both satisfy and mock non sensical Canadian content rules, the characters grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The two became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
