Bob and Doug McKenzie in Liberace vs Elton John (SCTV Christmas)

In the video Liberace vs Elton John (SCTV Christmas), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of hilarious Canadian brothers who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on second city television for the show’s third season when it streamed by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. The character Bob McKenzie is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. The sketch was made originally as an idea to both fulfill and laugh at non sensical Canadian content laws, the siblings turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
