Bob and Doug McKenzie in Little Shop of Horrors – Skid Row

In the video Little Shop of Horrors – Skid Row, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of strange Canadian actors who created “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was streamed on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as fluff to both follow guidelines and laugh at silly Canadian content policies, the siblings turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
