In the video Lost in Translation – Silence by Dave Thomas Junior, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a skit which was aired on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s partThe character Bob is acted by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by comic Dave Thomas. Although born originally as fluff to both please and mock dumb Canadian content demands, the duo transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The two soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
