In the video Merry Christmas Baby, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a improv which was introduced on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it got sold to CBC Television in the eighties. Bob is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as a joke to both satisfy and mock legal Canadian content statutes, the brothers became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and across the border. The brothers soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
