Bob and Doug McKenzie in Metallica – One – If Geddy Lee played Bass
In the video Metallica – One – If Geddy Lee played Bass, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian siblings who created “Great White North”, a skit which was streamed on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on CBC Television in . The character Bob McKenzie is performed by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is acted by comic Dave Thomas. Which was born originally as fluff to both please and laugh about non sensical Canadian content policies, the two grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and the USA. The pair went on to become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
WARNING!!! PLEASE READ…
This is meant to be a fun tribute to all the artists involved. It’s not an attempt to discredit the band, or Jason, so if it’s not what you want to hear, move on. No sense making negative comments. Saying the original is better or I’m no Geddy Lee isn’t being clever. It’s not even meant to be a Geddy clone — just in the “prog -rock” style. Hopefully, it’ll be enjoyed for its intent and nothing else. Thanks.

Id like to know what the album would sound like with Jason Newsted on bass
i like it
Man this is not rush YYZ !!! For this type off music the bass as to have more low end and not be so bright!
But it's just my opinion…
It’s softer than actual Rush, Metallica is power Metal bud
Can u put tabs plz
nice bass line bro.. love it.
anyway, you should replace Lars.
a song without a bass, feels like living man with no female. hahahahhaa
This is really cool, would you consider uploading just the bass?
gostei mas a versão que o Felipe Andreoli do Angra criou para essa musica ficou inigualável
Geddy played so amazing with Neil Peart so it was the obvious next step to seek out the great Lars Ulrich to take his Bass playing to the next level lol All jokes a side great job on the video and bass playing. Enjoyed it
lol
Nelson Montana – bloody brilliant fella – must've taken quite a bit of work to do this.
Could you do Orion by metallica with geddy on bass
No pissin' but if Geddy were the bassist, then Kirk might actually have put some effort into his guitar work.
Bro, you should be the next bassist for Metallica, when they inevitably need one.
Aradığım bass gitar tonu ve üslubu budur. Çok yaşa Geddy Lee…
Hey dude, I just made a weird mash up vid if Primus played with Metallica and linked back to THIS vid!
Thanks for the BadAss song man…
If Les Claypool had Joined Metallica? Eye of the Hamburger Train Metalli-Primus Mash Up
Well, I think it's awesome! Just came from ur If Les Claypool got the gig video… FISH ON!
Fun-Metalli-Fact: Geddy Lee was slated to produce Master of Puppets till they moved recording overseas…
Sorry man… geddy Lee never play bass this. You are a litle conceited
Im gonna SLAPP Davie 504 with this….great job man
You do realise lars would be selfish again and make his drums louder so you can’t hear any bass
much more prefer this version of the song actually
This sounds awesome, I can definitely hear Geddy playing this stuff. Great work, man, also how about trying trying something like Steve Harris on Disposable Heroes or maybe to mix it up Roger Waters on a Metallica song? (Can be whatever song you choose, I’m not picky about that one)
sounds like a Wal bass, which i love but i did not care for this, no offense, appreciate the effort.
Imagine if les Claypool got to be the bassist
What about John Myung playing Dyers Eve? Or Steve di Giorgio playing Harvester of Sorrow?
Use plectrum – you are out of the cool room.
Geddy Lee sounds with more high frequencies. He almost shines with his songs. But the lines and notes are very close! One thing is fact: I loved it:)
Holy crap the lyrics feel like they have so much more meaning with that bass added
The intro and beginning part is kinda decent, but it feels kinda overimprovised overall.
sorry, but it's not Getty but nice attempt…maybe you can send a copy of the song w/o the bas to Getty him self and see if he trys it…ya might get lucky get a reply..
Rushtallica
I like it more.
Gedtallica
MetalLEEca
Junior Bass Grovador would make it better!!
MetalliRush!! Excellent!
Very nice but I prefer Jason sound
Some of the alterations and fills are exciting but it’s when you literally play lead along the rhythm it’s too hectic.
Someone playing lead on the bass and on the lead guitar at the same time is just too busy. I like bass fill in lead riffs better and a solid bass line. This sounded like the bass and lead guitar in a competition.
Love to hear the Gene Simmons version.
Oooops.
He would try to get publishing rights.
Forgot.
This is a powerful addition to the song.
We need tabs for this haha
Geddy is one of my biggest influences on bass so this was a really cool approach to the song, awesome job (I’m also Canadian so that’s another reason why I’m happy)
This was great. A few bass licks made me grin from ear to ear. I think Rob should step down and go back to funk town and have metallica bring you aboard. Best part is you dont have to drink yourself to death to be in the band anymore. You should record shortest straw. Btw you actually have more of a steve harris style here. If he had a 5er.

Good job. I love this song so much, I never noticed there was no Bass. Should have over played at the end and under played at the beginning. It was cool.
I don't hear a lot of difference, because Metallica was heavily influenced by Rush. Still a very powerful song. Edit to add, I can hear you playing bass with the Morse code, nice addition.
Overplaying at its best..
