Bob and Doug McKenzie in Mr. Obvious – The Christmas Tree

In the video Mr. Obvious – The Christmas Tree, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of made up Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a sketch which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most popular season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. The sketch was born originally as a skit to both please and make fun of annoying Canadian content guidelines, the siblings transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
