Bob and Doug McKenzie in Mr. Science – John Candy on SCTV (1978)

In the video Mr. Science – John Candy on SCTV (1978), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian siblings who can been seen in “Great White North”, a program which was streamed on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it aired by CBC Television in the 80’s. Bob’s character is played by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is acted by Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as fluff to both fulfill and laugh about non sensical Canadian content demands, the pair turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
