Bob and Doug McKenzie in Mr Science with Johnny LaRue – SCTV – John Candy

In the video Mr Science with Johnny LaRue – SCTV – John Candy, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian brothers who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was televised on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was featured on CBC Television in the 80’s. The character Bob McKenzie is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as a skit to both please and make fun of dumb Canadian content laws, the pair morphed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the United States. The two soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
