Bob and Doug McKenzie in Music Requests by MV
In the video Music Requests by MV, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian siblings who are responsible for “Great White North”, a program which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s part is created by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by the comedian Dave Thomas. It was born originally as filler to both follow guidelines and mock dumb Canadian content policies, the characters transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
A friend on Facebook asked me if people get mad if I do not play their requests. I answer that question and talk about how I handle the music at events.

I've also had the occasional over-attached guy who comes up and says he doesn't want to request a song. But then continues to inch his way behind my table and look over my shoulder at exactly what I'm doing, in case I want any pointers on what to do or what song to play. And even though he did want to make any requests, he says "hey man, you should play [insert song here]" every once in a while.
At an outdoor wedding, I once had a very drunk guy in a cowboy hat request "Bangin' On My Heart" by The Outfield. I didn't have it and had never heard of it. He got pissed and proceeded to spend the next hour walking around the dance telling people the DJ sucked. He also came back and requested the same song three more times, each time more upset than the last. Can't please err'body!
