The character Bob McKenzie is created by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as a joke to both satisfy and makes jokes about annoying Canadian content guidelines, the brothers morphed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie siblings enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
