In the video Never Trust a Man With Two First Names: The Dave Thomas Story (trailer), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hysterical Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a improv which was featured on SCTV for the show’s third season when it got sold to CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was made originally as a sketch to both please and laugh at silly Canadian content legislation, the pair became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The characters soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
