Bob and Doug McKenzie in Night School Hi-Q
In the video Night School Hi-Q, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian family members who are responsible for “Great White North”, a program which was shown on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it streamed by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was created originally as a joke to both please and laugh at silly Canadian content legislation, the characters grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie brothers enetually would become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
The second appearance of Eugene Levy as the fabulous “Alex Trebel” on SCTV. Follows directly from the first “High-Q” earlier in the series.
Not as funny as that first episode or the first “Half-Wits” episode later in the series, but still worth a watch!
Anyone have the final Half-Wits episode (#3) out there?
