Bob’s part is acted by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as a skit to both satisfy and makes jokes about dumb Canadian content guidelines, the two transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the States. The characters became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
