In the video October 4, 1989 – Promos for Rick Moranis Hosting ‘SNL’ & ‘Today’, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of hysterical Canadian actors who created “Great White North”, a program which was streamed on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it aired by CBC Television in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is acted by comic Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as filler to both fulfill and mock stupid Canadian content policies, the duo became a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
