In the video On The Twelfth Day 1955, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of odd Canadian siblings who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s part is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Which was made originally as a joke to both please and laugh about dumb Canadian content rules, the characters grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
This 1955 British production, is an Edwardian depiction of the chaos that ensues from receiving all 364 gifts from the 12 days of Christmas. A George K. Arthur production starring David O’Brien as Truelove, Director Wendy Toye also plays Miss Tilly, and Franklyn Bennet as the Butler. The source material is poor off the top but becomes clearer for the first gift onwards.
