Rick Moranis is a Canadian actor, comedian, writer, and musician who rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s for his work in various comedy films and television shows. He was born on April 18, 1953, in Toronto, Canada, and began his career as a radio DJ and comedy writer before transitioning to acting.

Moranis first gained widespread recognition for his role as Louis Tully in the 1984 film “Ghostbusters.” He went on to star in a number of successful comedy films, including “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” “Parenthood,” and “The Flintstones.” He also provided the voice of the character Dark Helmet in the 1987 science fiction parody “Spaceballs.”

In addition to his film work, Moranis also had a successful career in television, most notably as a regular cast member on the Canadian sketch comedy show “Second City Television” (SCTV). He also lent his voice to several animated series, including “The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie” and “Gravedale High.”

Despite his success, Moranis largely retired from acting in the mid-1990s to focus on raising his children following the death of his wife. In recent years, he has made a few brief appearances, including reprising his role as Wayne Szalinski in a 2020 Disney+ reboot of “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.”
