In the video One Song Per Week #37 Dave Thomas Junior – Love Me Tender (Live), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of hysterical Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a skit which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it aired by CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s character is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Despite brought to life originally as an idea to both please and make fun of annoying Canadian content guidelines, the duo transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The two soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
