Bob and Doug McKenzie in “Perry Como: Still Alive” SCTV S4 E10 1981
In the video “Perry Como: Still Alive” SCTV S4 E10 1981, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of hysterical Canadian actors who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as a joke to both satisfy and laugh about non sensical Canadian content legislation, the siblings morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
This is one of my all-time favorite sketches from SCTV, and I noticed there really wasn’t a full HQ version on YouTube… so, here we are.
From S4 E10, “CCCP 1” Written by the great Eugene Levy.

The older I get, the less absurd this John Candy "punk" character seems. I've got a mohawk, and I'd totally go see a Perry Como show. Oi!
BWAHAHAHAHA…..awesome.
Rick Moranis with fro and chest hair is hilaire!
Perry Como stated he didn't realized he was so relaxed
One of the most hilarious parodies ever done by SCTV. And considering their overall work, that is high praise indeed.
Como loved this skit….He had a sense of humor.
Brilliant. And the best part was the man himself loved it.
Ive just seen this 4 the first time in at least 30yrs! LAUGHING IN TEARS! OVER N OVER AGAIN! CAN'T STOP! WON'T STOP!
This kills me cuz my mother loved him
What is the last song?
The brilliance of the classic SCTV lineup cannot be understated: John Candy, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, Joe Flaherty, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, and Rick Moranis. They wrote and performed their own stuff, they had virtually $0 budget, and they made it work.
SNL could never hold a candle to SCTV.
I bought Perry Como's Christmas album because of this skit. Money well spent.
This never fails to crack me up. One of the most well-conceived and best-executed comedy skits of all time. Everything about it hits exactly right.
Same here. Also this one.

Wow. He's really lively, ain't he.
Perry's been dead for over 20 years and he's more relaxed than ever.
PBS Pledge Week
i mean come on. i watched this show from day one and i cant imagine life without it
My sides are splitting!
Watch Rick Moranis dancing in the chorus. The ladies (I dont know if they wrote the additional lyrics or not)
All terrific. I have so much respect for Eugene and all of them.
I love all of them.
I hurt every time after watching this…. Eugene slays it.
Damn, this is funny!
My brother used to call him Perry Coma
so brilliant, touching, hilarious lol
South Park cartoon do same thing with rod stewart
This is the only thing Eugene Levy ever did that made me laugh.
""Im going boggie on downtown " love the disco backup singers. The whole skit is genius.
Como was so relaxed
I’m so happy I was raised on SCTV
SCTV was far better than SNL. Used to watch it all the time on public television. No live audience, which actually made it even funnier. Great cast loaded with talent.
Live in a nursing home ,live this every day
this was a min too long
@1:00 Holy crap. SCTV predicted Stephen Harper!!
Oy!!
He loves the nitelife
Brilliant
Eugene Levy was never funny after SCTV. Too bad, really good on SCTV, the writers in hollyweird aren't funny.
