In the video Plasmatics on SCTV • Metal Priestess, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a skit which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob’s part is acted by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by comic Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously developed originally as fluff to both fulfill and mock silly Canadian content laws, the brothers morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The characters soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
