Bob and Doug McKenzie in Reaction To Bob & Doug McKenzie Songs (Twelve Days Of Christmas and Take Off ft Geddy Lee) SCTV
In the video Reaction To Bob & Doug McKenzie Songs (Twelve Days Of Christmas and Take Off ft Geddy Lee) SCTV, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of strange Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a sketch which was aired on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob is acted by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was brought to life originally as an idea to both satisfy and make fun of legal Canadian content laws, the characters grew up to be a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the US. The characters went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

This is my reaction to Bob & Doug McKenzie Songs (Twelve Days Of Christmas and Take Off ft Geddy Lee) SCTV
In this video I react to two songs from SCTV’s Canadian comedy duo Bob & Doug McKenzie played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. SCTV was a popular Canadian comedy show in the 70’s and 80’s featuring the aforementioned actors as well as comedy greats like John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Short. These two songs were awesome. One was a parody of Twelve Days Of Christmas and the other called Take Off featured Rush frontman Geddy Lee.

Rush listen to song Tom Sawyer or song Limelight.
Hope you get to hear some Rush……Start with “ Tom Sawyer “ and “ Spirit of Radio “ they are an iconic Canadian band
Pack of 2-4 (#6 on this list) is a 24 pack of beer. fyi.
As a proud Canadian (with very British roots) from the Kawarthas (Ontario, but not Toronto, but like close enough that Toronto has heard of us LOL they call us Cottage County) Anyways, this accent is exaggerated but not as much as you think… I know at least 47 people with almost this exact same accent, but thats just their Canadian to Canadian accent… Most of us turn it on and off at will… If we're explaining something than you hear a robotic Canadian version of the Royal BBC (get your mind outta the gutter) English just without that Limey twang… I am not joking when I say I know several people that sound like Red Green, and the dude is also from the Kawarthas, Buddy….
Doug’s brother is the lead singer of Blood Sweat and Tears . David Clayton Thomas . Spinning Wheel is a nice start .
The voice in the second song if Geddy from Rush.
Geddy is brilliantly hilarious for a not-supposed-to-be-funny rockstar
he had an appearance on the comedy parody news show Rick Mercer Report where he did a rock scream while tobogganing down a ski slope, freaking hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVh_C7XTHA
I am sure everyone is telling you to listen to Tom Sawyer (Rush)
Take Off was a big novelty hit back in the 80's
Every Canadian kids heros in the early 80s. I played Bob in my Christmas play in grade seven. That's right, the McKenzie Brothers hosted our Xmas production in front of the entire school complete with beer bottles and smokes in an elementary school. Different times…
Thank you, thank you, Thank you…..perfect choice. Memory flood…..
that vocalist by geddy lee
I'm French Canadian ,, but these guys are really funny ,, I can relate to their humors , so funny , they try to cheer you up , heh,, give them a beer ,,
Rush is in the rocking roll hall of fame. Listen to a few of their songs to really appreciate his incredible voice.
Well I think we can expect to see some Rush reactions.
Geddy Lee was the bassist, kayboardist and lead singer of Ruch – a Canadian ProgRock group that was out at the same time as "Yes" in the '70s and '80s. They used to sneak into "Yes" concerts they were too young to get into. But – in a weird twist of fate – it was Geddy Lee who inducted "Yes" into the R&R Hall of Fame – and took the late Chris Squires' place on stage when they played "Roundabout" at the Awards night. How cool is that ?!?
The sound is almost inaudible . . .
10 bucks is10 bucks.
the music style is a parody is cheesy low budget 80s style production.
Trailer park boys
Geddy Lee amazing vocals Rush -Closer to the Heart 1977.
You HAVE to listen to some Rush, eh ya hoser!!! Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions….
Rush is great! Try Tom Sawyer
Great reaction to Getty Lee’s voice! Have you reacted to them? You need to watch a documentary on them. Their story is incredible. A friend of mine has seen them in many different cities all over the world. He also met them at a winery. Said they guys are amazing.
Geddy Lee is a Canadian legend, Rush is basically the most Canadian band of all time.
No apologies necessary for your accent Alex Lifeson Neil Peart and Geddy Lee has music I guarantee you heard before RUSH has Tom Sawyer, Working Man, YYZ, spirit of the radio and mama more on top of that they all have done comedy shows ATHF, Family Guy, Trailer Park Boys, and quite a few more Rush and Zeppelin are same level to me
This is beautiful a good day
It's been a long time since i experienced Canadian humor. How ive missed it!
It always impressed me that they invited Geddy Lee (who, in addition to vocals is a brilliant bass guitarist) when they could have easily included Ian Thomas (Dave Thomas' brother). Ian is a legitimate rock star but rather than nepotism they went for name recognition. I am sure Ian would have done a great job but Geddy Lee is the man. (and ten bucks is ten bucks!)
TRAILER PARK BOYS
Dave Thomas has music in his blood. His brother is Ian Thomas another fine hoser musician!
I love at the start he was all: "the powerline type of rock is not my cup of tea"… then during the song he just loses it.
Rush songs to try out:
The Spirit of Radio
Red Barchetta
By-tor and the Snow Dog ( my personal favourite song of all time)
Red Sector A
The Enemy Within
Nobody's Hero
The Garden
Closer to the Heart
Losing It
Subdivisions
Tom Sawyer
and the instrumentals:
YYZ
La Villa Strangiato
Bob and Doug McKenzie were introduced as characters to mock the Canadian content laws of the country. It's really important that you watch entire episodes of SCTV to fully grasp what is going on in each of these little skits. I can't overstate how important that is. Bob and Doug were introduced because the government of the day complain that the show resemble too closely common shows out of USA, and they needed to be substantially Canadian content in each episode. So, the SCTV creators came up with Bob and Doug, quintessentially Canadian boys just to mock the requirements. They had no idea they would become such iconic characters, arguably the most famous and popular characters in Canadian TV history.
Actually Rush Resist(Acoustic) is a must listen. Mert, your interest in Military History, check out Rush Manhatten Project with lyrics, also same for Territories with lyrics. Lastly, one more is Natural Science. Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions, Closer to the heart and Limelight are all the awesome tunes but they are most commonly played on radio. My mentions sbove, are in my opinion, lyricly so on the mark coupled with unbeleivable music.
Mert, Rush Camera Eye, is divided between London and New York, this is a must for you Mert. I love your reactions, I've liked every one I've watched. About 20 so far, just subscribe, I live your Scottish accent.
Peace out
John
