Bob’s part is played by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. It was created originally as fluff to both please and laugh at legal Canadian content rules, the two turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie siblings became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
