In the video Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs the Movie!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hysterical Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it streamed by CBC Television in 1980. Bob’s part is created by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by comic Dave Thomas. Which was created originally as filler to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about stupid Canadian content rules, the duo turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The pair enetually would become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
