Bob’s character is performed by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as fluff to both fulfill and laugh about annoying Canadian content policies, the two morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
