Bob and Doug McKenzie in Rick Moranis on Letterman 1986

In the video Rick Moranis on Letterman 1986, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian comedians who created “Great White North”, a show which was shown on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is played by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. It was created originally as a joke to both satisfy and make fun of non sensical Canadian content guidelines, the characters turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The two went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
