I'm glad that Natalie Portman is putting HER spin on classic children's literature. I think the world needs that right now-- a smug, deluded narcissist to come touch up the mona lisa with a meat cleaver and a tube of paint thinner.

But alas, she's just the next in a veritable sea of many other actors before her who have been so bold as to carelessly glide into the lane of others, take sales from them (many of whom have surely dedicated their lives to writing) with her name recognition alone. Up and decided on a whim to take a swipe at some well established, already heralded source material, likely while listlessly sipping a martini, watching the pacific ocean smack away at the rocks below the cliff of her hillside Malibu bungalow. "Oh, I know, children's literature! That's what I'll do. How perfect" How pretentious. Must be nice to feel bored one day and then quietly shove your way to the top of the heap while smugly leering down at a zillion would-be, talented authors toiling away in forever obscurity beneath you, 99% of whom that'll never get their shot. If Natalie Portman wants to provide a service, why not sponsor or publish an actual author with an original idea for a children's book instead of standing on the shoulders of giants while hastily slapping her name across their work? This world is confounding to me sometimes.
