Here’s a bit of radio trivia. Canadian Rick Moranis, who gained fame in the 1980s as a cast member of “SCTV” and later went on to star in a string of comedies, including “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids,” began as a deejay on Toronto radio stations in the 1970s. He is heard here in an aircheck from CFTR in 1973 and CHUM on Sept. 2, 1978. At both stations he was known as “Rick Allan.” He was pretty straight forward here, doing short quips and the weather (“tomorrow will be mostly Sunday”). Interesting to note that in the five years between these airchecks Canada had gone from the Fahrenheit scale to Celsius, as reflected in the temperatures.
