In the video RMR Episode245 – Watch SCTV’s Guy Lafleur & Darrly Sittler Parody!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a sketch which was included on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it got sent to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. The character Bob McKenzie is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as fluff to both please and mock network Canadian content guidelines, the pair transformed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The brothers went on to become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
