Bob and Doug McKenzie in Robert Gordon ~ Someday Someway (on SCTV)
In the video Robert Gordon ~ Someday Someway (on SCTV), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of odd Canadian siblings who created “Great White North”, a improv which was aired on second city television for the show’s third season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob is acted by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is created by actor Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as filler to both follow guidelines and mock stupid Canadian content guidelines, the characters morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Robert Gordon and Link Wray … if you’ve not gone and listened to them playing as pair do yourself a favor. Link Wray invented the power chord and his “Rumble” was the only INSTRUMENTAL song ever to be banned from radio play. Badass!
Someday someway maybe people will appreciate Marshal whatshisname Crenshaw.
…excellent…!
Another Maryland light gone. Damn… 🙁

Rick Moranis as Brinkley on the floor at the end. RIP RG
RIP Robert Gordon. He was my all time favorite SCTV musical guest. Now he's jamming with Danny Gatton in that big juke joint in the sky….
Just learned that Robert Gordon has embarked on his celestial tour. What a guy. Safe travels.
Yeah, it's Danny Gatton on lead guitar!
Great stuff there.
Gatton!
Didn't realize that I was watching the amazing Danny Gatton play when I saw this on SCTV many years ago
