In the video “Rue des cascades”, play it by me (from Dave Thomas play), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of strange Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a show which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob McKenzie is created by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously created originally as a joke to both follow guidelines and laugh about dumb Canadian content statutes, the brothers turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the USA. The pair soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Rue des Cascades, is one of my favourite songs from Yann Tiersen. It took me one day to have the song played and…the rest of the week to master it. (I play it everyday like… 20 times…and more, always find something to improve lol)
Actually I was testing mi new Creative Inspire T3100 with the piano, this is not my best attempt with this song tho. but I’d like you to comment since it’s been a long time from my last upload and I’ve been practicing a lot everyday. Thanks anyway 🙂 And, I gotta thank Dave Thomas, cause his videos inspire me so much, and now I’m kinda Yann Tiersen follower.

Thanks, i'll have another look at Dave's video. And, it's funny you say that, i was thinking the ultimate version would include both the singing and accordian translations at the end. I also intend to learn it all as one piece. It really is a great song, good luck to you too!

Thanks dude. Well, I play by ear, and, the final 40 seconds you're talking about, I think that was pure Dave Thomas genius. I mean, if you listen to the song, you can indeed hear that part, but not played by the piano, it's the accordion instead. Dave just made it a bit more intense let's say. And i'ts not so hard if you pay atention to his video, that's how I manage to see which keys to play, and of course by ear.

I am having trouble with the final 40 seconds though. In every video I've seen it is played so fast that I find it hard to see the notes that are used.
I have sheet music but it is for the live version of the song and so ends with the 'singing' end as opposed to the very fast part.
Any advice would be cool.
