Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV 1 – 06 Anton Chekhov

In the video SCTV 1 – 06 Anton Chekhov, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of strange Canadian comedians who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by Dave Thomas. Although developed originally as a skit to both please and laugh about legal Canadian content policies, the pair turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The two went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
