In the video SCTV 1 – 15 Leave it to Beaver / Dr. Tongue, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hysterical Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a program which was streamed on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it aired by CBC Television in the eighties. Bob is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is created by Dave Thomas. It was born originally as a skit to both satisfy and mock dumb Canadian content statutes, the brothers became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The brothers enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Well no under the kid is drunk.. I would be too if I lived in the same house where they shot "Leave It to Beaver"… Not mention… a house were a murder had taken place!!!

Does anyone who knows the history of local TV news in selected markets get the sense that this particular SCTV News sketch seemed like a little dig at the pairing of Bill Burns with his daughter, Patti Burns, on the noon newscast at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh? I know that combo made headlines when she first joined him at the midday anchor desk in 1976 (after Bill's prior noon co-anchor, Marie Torre, left KDKA to do TV work in New York), and some wags were none too impressed, referring to them as "Patti and Daddy" – but she was every bit the journalistic professional he was (with the same perfectionistic streak and exacting standards), and eventually she became a Pittsburgh TV news legend in her own right and on her own merits. Unlike Earl Jr., she was no "budding media journalist" when the pairing came to be, she already had quite a bit of seasoning aforehand.
Who's the kid in this episode? He's awesome!
