In the video SCTV | 5 Neat Guys Gold, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of strange Canadian comedians who are responsible for “Great White North”, a sketch which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it moved to CBC Television in 1980. Bob McKenzie is acted by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is performed by Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a skit to both satisfy and makes jokes about network Canadian content legislation, the duo turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The brothers later became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
