In the video SCTV – Botch & Lamb Soft Contacts – The Eyes Have It!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of strange Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was aired on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it braodcast by CBC Television in the 80’s. The character Bob McKenzie is performed by Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is performed by Dave Thomas. Which was developed originally as a sketch to both follow guidelines and make fun of silly Canadian content demands, the two turned into a pop culture success in both Canada and the USA. The pair enetually would become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
BOTCH AND LAMB SOFT CONTACT LENSES: Those darn glasses, they were always getting in the way. Designed with geometric logic, these soft contact lenses grip the eye. Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
