1993:
74. September 2, 1993 (Late Show #4). Martin Short, having finished his Broadway show “The Goodbye Girl”; Song: “Broadway Is a Lady” (some of it based on the melody of Frank Sinatra’s “L.A. Is My Lady”; it ends with a touch of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” ).
And a twenty-two year-long tradition is born with the first parody rendition of Sinatra’s 1984 recording.
