  1. Eugene Levy definitely looks like Alex Trebek in these, but did SCTV have “artistic license” to make Levy’s personality the complete antithesis of Trebek? I have seen Alex on quiz shows 50 years now, and I don’t ever remember having a “slow burn” OR even worse, a total candidate for a straitjacket!!

  2. It is astounding the number of amazing comedians from Canada… it has to be much higher than the proportion of the population. On behalf of the U.S.A., we thank you…. keep 'em coming!

  3. The clip that introduced me to SCTV very early one morning on the comedy network in 2004. Watching alex get carried off by the white suits had me rolling on the floor.

  5. I can’t figure out for the first question that Wesley selected for the things that smell category what the hell he was saying. They didn’t put it up on the screen and he said they couldn’t show that to the audience I wonder if he went rogue and said some thing that was inappropriate. I just can’t make it out I’ve listen to it like six times so if anybody else has an answer please chime in but above all how absolutely awesome is it to watch these guys now so freaking hilarious.

    Oh good times
I would like to add the sad part, or the reflective observation about this whole experience of the show is that when TV was fresh and popular sitcoms and TV game shows were very prevalent when I was growing up. I remember sitting down and watching TV with my family or being interested in the show and making sure that at Thursday at 7:00 you were going to be there to sit down and watch that show because if you missed it you would either have to record it or catch it in a rerun later in the year. Now the youth of today just don’t have that burden, and don’t have the banter and experience of dealing with winning and losing humiliation and praise and the whole experience of watching these cheesy TV programs that were so fascinating at the time.
It was a very unique time to grow up in, and I I feel very privileged to be a part of the beginning of the electronic age, and the introduction to handheld electronics and wireless communication it was just so mind blowing that you went from a phone that was rotary and attached to the wall to a phone that was wireless. Of course the rich people got it first and then slowly things got priced appropriately so that more people could get the electronics but I remember my waterproof Sony Walkman that was yellow built like a clamshell it had a clasp with rubber gaskets and I was just so enamored with being able to take my GNR tape amongst others and plug in my headphones and pop in a AA battery so I can roll on my bike and get to the mall and chill/flirt with girls meet up with my buds and grab a bite to eat and checking out the record store.
I actually envy generations before mine especially from the 40s through the 60s what an incredible time for vehicle transformations and quality of life that improved so many times over from just 20 or 30 years before. It was the efficient and planned era of the electrification of America and the world. We save come so far so fast it really is mind boggling.
Sorry if my tangent is just that but damn the world used to be much more simple and most everybody just doesn’t see how out of touch we are. I would say mostly because they didn’t grow up knowing anything else so why would it be any different.
Oh and about the electronic devices that we all have and appreciate in my opinion if, you don’t believe in reverse engineering then do you think it’s actually possible do you have these devices I don’t.
