Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV Christmas Special 1982
In the video SCTV Christmas Special 1982, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian actors who created “Great White North”, a skit which was shown on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bobby B clocked by the juggler, epic.

This is an example of why the US never bothered to invade Canada.
Every skit a hoot! Especially the 'L'il Fella Who Couldn't Wait For Christmas'; and such a nice clean copy was uploaded — thanks to Bruce Pyle for the video and the memories!
The boys choir are all in their 50’s now.
Thank you for this!
What a great Christmas present, THANK YOU!
John Candy was so great.
Catherine O'Hara as Lola is comedy gold
Merry Christmas SCTV, 41 years later! Time flies!
44:40 is one of my favorite SCTV bits
Featuring Catherine O'Hara, lol legendary
Only SCTV could do this! John Candy in the snow making angels..
Polopony = polo pony. The Honeymooners tv show with Jackie Gleason is referenced in this intentional mispronunciation I believe. In an episode of the Honeymooners, not sure which one, Ralph Kramden has a line where he reads aloud polo ponies, but he mispronounces it by saying poloponies, and he doesn’t know what it means.
Hands down SCTV was better than SNL. PURE TALENT EVERY SINGLE PLAYER.
Aa young advertising guy in Toronto, Juul Haalmeyer was my first freelance client. Merry Christmas Juul, wherever you are ❤
OMG, the Driftwood Inn! This was VERY similar to a rather cheesy motel in Edmonton.
FORTY years ago?!! Oh, the memories. This was my absolute favorite – brilliant satire and parody, as well as original characters – the launching pad for many legends. It's amazing how much I seem to remember every detail of this episode. And oh, seeing John Candy again!
"the kid from Deliverance makes a good point"
Thanks
"For the traditional exchanging of the socks." Killing me!
This is totally great! I could watch all year round, and I will!!
The humor seems so specifically early '80's.
Eugene Levy moved on to continue to be a low brow comedian. Congrats.
Christmas Eve and SCTV.
The NBC years of SCTV weren't nearly as good as the first years.
SCTV was so awesome. So many great characters. Thanks so much
Best scenes had John Candy in em.
Lotsa 420 in SCTV!
I had no idea that Martin Short was a member of the Juul Haalmeyer dance team!
Thank you for such an immaculate copy of this special. Lola Heatherton is one of Catherine's greatest characters! Every skit is a gem!!!
Thanks for the memories !
No wonder all those Canadian Comedians GTF out of Canada and joined SNL….this really blows
This is soooooooo Canadian and I'm not sure it's actually funny.
Thanks for posting this, a very enjoyable special.
Love the Juul Hallmeyer dancers.
SCTV still brings me joy.
Great Merry Christmas Guy Caballero and the sctv gang and everyone.
Thanks for uploading this! A very long time ago, I came across a clip (38:20) of Andraé Crouch singing with John Candy but I could never place it until today!
