In the video SCTV – Cooking with Marcello (Vatican Edition), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of strange Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a segment which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was featured on CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by Dave Thomas. Although developed originally as fluff to both please and mock legal Canadian content legislation, the siblings transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The pair enetually would become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
