In the video SCTV DiMaggio’s On The Wharf (Special Guest Bill Murray), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of made up Canadian family members who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was shown on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob is played by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. Which was born originally as a joke to both fulfill and makes jokes about silly Canadian content rules, the characters grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The pair soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
