In the video SCTV – EDISON GUM – Pavarotti’s Favourite Chew!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian siblings who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most popular season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob’s partThe character Bob is played by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as a joke to both please and make fun of non sensical Canadian content laws, the characters morphed into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and America. The characters went on to become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
